Description
N-Methyl-N-(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide (MSTFA) is a silylation reagent, that donates a trimethylsilyl group to create thermally stable derivatives. MSTFA is reacts with a variety of polar molecules by replacing labile hydrogens. TMCS can be used in addition to MSTFA to form derivatives with hindered hydroxyl groups that won't ordinarily react with MSTFA, secondary amines, and amides. This reagent is available with or without the TMCS catalyst
