D-Biotin Product Description

D-Biotin, also known as Vitamin H, is a compound found inside cells. Biotin is critical to several biological pathways in the body. This compound has found great utility in life science research due to its strong interaction with avidin and streptavidin. This interaction allows for biotinylated compounds, such as biotinylated enzymes or biotin labeled antibodies, to be easily pulled out of a mixture for isolation or further purification.

The carboxylic acid end of D-Biotin can be used to react with directly with amine containing proteins through the use of EDC, CDI or other zero length coupling agent. Alternatively, CovaChem also carries a full line of reagents specifically designed to biotinylate antibodies or other proteins.
