Description
N-Ethyl-N'(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC-HCl) is a zero length protein crosslinker. Also known as EDAC-HCl, this reagent is often used with either Sulfo-NHS (CovaChem 13505) or NHS (CovaChem 13504). EDC functions by activating the carboxyl region of the protein or other molecule, and coupling it to an amine or other nucleophilic functional group.
